MOSCOW: Imports of unmixed polyvinyl chloride (PVC) into Kazakhstan dropped to about 48,300 tonnes in January-November 2015, down 24% compared with the same time a year earlier, according to MRC analysts.
November imports of unmixed PVC into the country seasonally decreased to 4,700 tonnes, compared with 5,200 tonnes in October. Total PVC imports into Kazakhstan decreased 48,300 tonnes in the first 11 months of the year, compared with 63,800 tonnes year on year.
Kazakhstan PVC imports such a serious decline in PVC imports in Kazakhstan resulted from a fall in demand from local producers and almost complete cessation of further re-imports of the resin in Russia.
According to the Statistics Committee of the Republic of Kazakhstan, for 11 months of the current year the index of production of plastic windows and window sills made about 23,200 tonnes, down 23% from the same time in 2014.
The volumes of re-imported resin in Russia over the reported period exceeded 12,000 tonnes, said the Ministry of National Economy of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
The main suppliers of PVC in the local market were producers from China, with their share more than 98% from the total PVC imports into the country. MRC, a partner of ICIS, produces polymers news and pricing reports from Russia, Ukraine, Belarus, Uzbekistan and Kazakhstan.
