WASHINGTON: A delegation from the Ministry of Transport and Communications (MoTC) paid an official visit to Sudan’s Minister of Transport, Roads and Bridges, Mohamed Awad, in Sudan. As marine ports and transport continue to play a major role in the movement of construction materials for projects presently underway in Qatar, MoTC has sent a delegation to Sudan to investigate how its massive port functions.
While the meeting focused on bilateral relations between the two countries in the field of transport, it also explored areas of improving collaboration in the arena of ports and marine transportation, Qatar Tribune reports. The two parties discussed means of further enhancing these two vital areas, with members of the delegation visiting the country’s largest facility, Port of Sudan.
This comes in light of Qatar’s partially opened (and still under construction) Hamad Port, which is boosting materials handling for the State’s ongoing construction sector. The delegation was briefed on Port of Sudan’s work mechanism and operational technologies.
Hassan al-Hail, adviser to the Minister of Transport and Communications, HE Jassim Seif Ahmed al-Sulaiti, led the delegation which also included Captain Abdulla al-Khanji, CEO of Qatar Ports Management Company, and Nasser Qaddar, director of the Ministry’s Maritime Transportation Licensing and Planning Department.
