DOHA: The Agriculture Quarantine Office at the Ministry of Environment seized 5,394 imported shipments weighing 71,174 tonnes last month for violating the agriculture quarantine law.
Twenty-five infected shipments were destroyed. The office also seized five shipments weighing 95 tonnes being exported in violation of the law.
Agriculture quarantine is considered the first line of defence to protect plants from agriculture pests as a precautionary measure to protect plants and agriculture products and ensure standards are complied with.
