DOHA: Qatari supplier Qatargas has reached an agreement with energy trader Trafigura to supply LNG cargoes to Jordan’s National Electric Power Company (NEPCO), an informed source said Friday.
“Qatar will back up Trafigura for the Jordan tenders,” he said.
Trafigura is going to deliver one of the two October cargoes NEPCO awarded in a tender that closed August 18, with validity until August 20, several sources said this week.
The cargo for delivery October 6-7 was awarded to Trafigura in the high $7s/MMBtu.
The cargo for delivery October 12-13 was awarded to portfolio seller BG, but the price could not be immediately confirmed.
Trafigura is also going to deliver two cargoes to NEPCO in September as part of a tender that closed July 27, with validity until July 30, Platts previously reported.
Both September cargoes were awarded to Trafigura in the high $7s/MMBtu and are to be delivered September 1-4 and September 21-24.
Sources said Trafigura was also the seller of some of the Qatari volumes that have been delivered to Egypt.
But one of the sources added that Trafigura was being backed up by two different suppliers, which have access to Qatari volumes.
“The bulk of volumes is coming from Shell and another trading house loading from Qatar,” he said.
