DOHA: The General Authority of Customs held a regional workshop on investigative techniques to enhance participants’ experience in investigative operations.
Experts from international organisations for customs attended the workshop, along with officials from regional countries.
The workshop aimed to enhance experiences of the participants in investigations, as the information today has become available everywhere for all people without trusted sources , while the work of customs officials needs gathering and analysing information, especially about smuggling actitivies including drugs, weapons and harmful goods.
A senior official from the General Authority of Customs said the investigative and intelligence information is part of a legal and ethical process depending on gathering information from different sources and analysing it to provide a clear picture about various goods, their imports and exports and during transit.
He said crimes today develop quickly and the customs officials must increase their abilities to combat them and take investigative support to catch the targeted people and seize suspected shipments.
