MULTAN: The Model of Customs Collectorate Multan will assist the Punjab government for the clearance of imported machinery for Quaid-e-Azam Solar Park.
The Model of Customs Collectorate Multan has also offered special support services to the Punjab government for the clearance of their machinery for the installation of Quaid- e-Azam Solar Power Plant.
The first 100 MW project has been already inaugurated and operational for the production of solar energy now. One of the major contractors for the project of Quaid-e- Azam solar power plant is Tebian Electric Apparatus (TBEA) Xinjiang Sun Oasis Co. Ltd. The installation of another 50 megawatt of Quaid- e-Azam solar power plant of the inaugurated plant will be expected in the month August.
The Quaid-e-Azam solar power has been designed to generate 1,000 MW of electricity. The QASP’s is the first biggest solar project which went into test run in the month of May and had achieved successful results. The generated electricity was being supplied to the national grid system.
The Federal Board of Revenue has given this task to Additional Collector MCC Multan Ghulam Mustafa for the clearance of solar power consignments. Ghulam Mustafa is now appointed as focal person for the clearance of Quaid-e-Azam solar power project.
Additional Collector Ghulam Mustafa have coordinated with the Punjab government for clearance of import consignments for the Quaid-e-Azam solar power and also directed the staff to make sufficient arrangements for the immediate clearance of shipments.
The Model of Customs Collectorate Multan will facilitate the government of Punjab in the customs clearance of their imported machinery utilized in the establishment of solar power project for the generation of electricity.
More than 500 containers consignment which will generate electricity of 50 megawatt will be cleared through Multan Customs swiftly for the power plant. Quaid-e-Azam solar power machinery for the creation is going to be imported from China for installation and it is also expected that further consignments may come through Multan dry port for the clearance after the clearance of this consignment.
The project started generating 100 MW of power in April 2015 and 1,000 MW by the end of 2016. The project comprises of 400,000 solar panels and was built for a cost of about $131 million. After the completion of this project, the project will generate more than current 550 MW installed capacity in the Topaz Solar Farm and the Desert Sunlight Solar Farm in California. The project’s expected completion in 2016 would make it the largest photovoltaic power station.
The government has invited investors to invest here for the balance 900 megawatts, in which several local and international companies will establish projects. Few domestic and international investors have been approved to start the process of establishment of solar plants on IPP (independent power producer) basis.
The Model of Customs Collectorate Multan has also offered Punjab government for onside clearance of the imported consignments for the solar power project. The model of customs collectorate Multan will deal with the biggest import consignment of 500 containers in Multan Dry Port history after the establishment of its development.
There will be no duty taxes collected from the clearance of solar power machinery due to reason that government have declared their import tax free for the establishment of new solar power generation to tackle severe energy crisis. Multan Customs department is also going to play their part by facilitating them swift clearance of consignment in the overpowering of energy crisis from the country. This contribution of model of customs collectorate Multan will help government in the generation of electricity for ending load shedding.
