Quetta ASO seizes 32,000 litres Iranian oil, 500kg Italian wire

KARACHI: The Model Customs Collectorate Quetta has seized a huge consignment of the non-duty paid Iranian oil and Italian electronic wire during two successful raids while four persons were arrested during the actions.

Deputy Collector Jehanzaib Abbasi received information that a huge consignment of smuggled oil was being sent out of the Quetta city. Consequently, he informed Anti-Smuggling Organization (ASO) about the received information. A team was formed which established check-post at Bujrani Road and started the checking of the vehicles. During the checking of the vehicles the team intercepted an oil tanker loaded with 32,000 litres Iranian oil. The Customs officials asked the driver about the customs clearance documents but he remained fail to satisfy them. Therefore, the officials impounded the truck with smuggled oil while three men were arrested at the time of action.

In another action, Quetta Anti-Smuggling Organization seized Italian wire. During the routine mobile the team raided at vacant plat. During the search of the plat the team found 500 kilo-gram smuggled Italian wire. The ASO officials seized the wire and arrested two persons who were present there at the time of action. Customs officials said that the value of seized wire is more than Rs5 million.
