Quetta Customs collects Rs27b during FY2020-21

QUETTA: Collectorate of Customs collected Rs27 billion registering resulting in 29 ppercent increase in revenue collection.

The Collectorate collected customs duty amounting to Rs6.8 billion against FBR’s assigned target of Rs4.5 billion thus collecting Rs2.3 billion (51 percent) over and above the  target.

Besides above, the Collectorate has also achieved the following miles stones during the FY 2020-21:

  1. Average realization of duty and taxes per container has increased from Rs.400,000 to Rs.2.8 million for dry fruits and other major imports.
  2. The Collectorate was facilitating import and export of goods from Iran through Custom House. Taftan via Intra Port Movement to Railway Dry Port and NLC Dry Port, Quetta as per Standing Orders/Public Notices issued from time to time by the erstwhile Model Customs Collectorate, Quetta since 2002. However, the Collectorate has now implemented the automated Intra-port Movement Module in WeBOC, which will ensure swift and transparent transportation of goods from Customs Station, Taftan to NLC Dry Port, Quetta.

iii. During the shortage of tomatoes in the country, the timing of clearance at Taftan was increased and clearances were made till 11 pm, 7 days a week to ensure timely supply to the end consumer.

  1. Insertion of chassis number of vehicles in Goods Declaration besides vehicle registration number has led to increased vigilance and strengthened controls at all Customs Stations.
  2. Reconciliation of Imports and Exports of Customs with NLC and FC at border stations improved transparency to ensure that all goods are safely cross bordered.
  3. A Focal person has been nominated (24/7) for verifications of Goods Declaration required by Customs & other law enforcement agencies for better inter agency coordination.

vii. The Collectorate in co-ordination with other sister agencies and stakeholders is constantly trying to increase legal trade to boost economic activities in the jurisdiction of MCC Quetta and to ensure that no leakage of revenue occurs at any stage.

viii. Keeping in view the requirements of the Customs Stations, merit-based transfer and postings of the staff has been made.

Collector Abdul Waheed Marwat also directed that anyone who found involved in smuggling should be dealt as per law.
