Quetta Customs confiscates carpets worth Rs6.50m during checking

QUETTA: The Directorate of Customs Intelligence and Investigation confiscated imported carpets worth Rs6.50 million.

Sources told Customs Today that Director Customs Intelligence and Investigation Irfan Javed received a tip-off that some smugglers are trying to smuggle non duty paid imported carpets from Quetta to Karachi.

He immediately constituted a raiding team. The team incharge, Sami Ullah Soomro and others enhanced surveillance on the Mastung check post and started searching of vehicles.

During the search operation, the team intercepted truck bearing registration no:KD-2489 which was going out of the city.

During the checking, he customs team recovered 300 imported non duty paid carpets worth Rs6.50 million. The customs team seized the all items and arrested 2 smugglers. The Directorate of Customs Intelligence and Investigation Quetta registered an FIR against the smuggler and start investigations. Earlier the Directorate of Customs Intelligence and Investigations Quetta confiscated electronics items include LED TVs .
