Quetta Customs confiscates microwave ovens, drugs worth Rs13m

KARACHI: The Quetta customs collectorate has seized a huge consignment of kitchen ovens and 500 grams heroin during two successful raids while three persons were arrested.

Deputy Collector Jhanzaib Abbasi received information that a huge quantity of kitchen ovens was smuggled out of the Quetta city. Consequently, he formed a team under his own supervision included preventive officials Muhammad Ishaq, Malik Qayyum and others.

The team formed check post at the exit point of the city and started the checking of vehicles. During the checking of the vehicles the team intercepted a suspicious truck. While the searching of the truck the Customs team recovers 200 non-duty paid microwave ovens. The customs team seized the ovens which market value is more than Rs 1 million.

In another raid, Deputy Collector Jhanzaib Abbasi received information from reliable sources that drugs were smuggled from out of city through a car. The deputy collector formed a team to curb the smuggling and started the checking of vehicles. During the checking of the vehicles the team intercepted a car and found one kilo gram heroin and 500 grams opium from the cavities of car’s door. The customs team seized the drug while three persons were arrested during action. The customs officials told that the market value of seized items is Rs 12 million.
