Quetta Customs, FC recover contraband goods worth Rs300m in joint operation

QUETTA: Collectorate of Customs Preventive in a joint operation with FC recovered huge quantity of smuggled goods including betel but, gutka and cigarettes worth Rs300 million near Afghan border Sarlat area.

According to sources, anti-smuggling operations are being conucted across country on directions of Member Customs Operation Tariq Huda. Chief Collector Baluchistan Dr. Saifuddin Jonejo, Collector Preventive Irfan Javed directed all anti smuggling staff to adopt zero tolerance policy against smuggling.

Therefore, Additional Collector Yasir Wahab Kulwar, Deputy Collector Akbar Jan and Assistant Collector Hameer Khan established special anti smuggling expert team under the supervision of Saleem Mandokhal Superintendent and Inspector Fareed Rind.

Subsequently, it was known that certain elements are dumping foreign origin goods near Afghan border Sarlat, 22 km away from Nushki. Customs along with FC conducted a raid and recovered 180 tons betel nuts, huge quantity of gutka and cigarettes.

It is necessary to mention here that this is one of the biggest betel nuts recovery case. Special customs squads recovered around 1000 tons of betel nut during the last 8 months.
