Quetta Customs, FC seize 43 tons of poppy seed worth Rs44.5m near Nushki

QUETTA: Collectorate of Customs Preventive with the assistant of FC has seized 43 tons of poppy seed along with other smuggled goods at Nushki. The value of the seized goods comes to Rs44.5 million.

Sources told Customs Today that Collector Customs Enforcement and Compliance Irfan Javed received credible information about smuggling attempts. He directed Additional Collector Yasir Kalwar and Deputy Collector Muhammad Zohaib to enhance vigilance on the jurisdiction.

The Customs team comprising Superintendent Saleem Shah, Inspectors Naseer Shaheen, Aslam Solangi along with FC staff led by Colonel Muhammad Asif, kept strict vigilance on Check posts and started strict checking.

Large quantity of smuggled goods including 43 tons of poppy seed, petrol engine water pumps, Window Air Conditioners and electric/gas heaters from different passenger buses and trucks.

The Customs staff took the possession of said smuggled goods into the Customs Check Post Noshki and seized the same.

Further investigations are underway till filing of this report.
