Quetta Customs foils bid to smuggle foreign origin cloth worth Rs80m

QUETTA: Collectorate of Customs anti-smuggling squad foiled a bid to smuggle huge quantity of foreign origin cloth worth Rs80 million.

Sources told Customs Today that Chief Collector Zulfiqar Ali Chaudhary received credible information about smuggling of foreign origin cloth. He immediately directed Collector Preventive Dr. Iftikhar Ahmad to take all necessary measures to foil the attempt of smuggling. Collector Iftikhar Ahmad constituted an anti-smuggling squad under the supervision of Additional Collector Jamil Baloch and Additional Collector Preventive Yasir Kalhor which also includes Assistant Collector Rana Umair, Assistant Collector Saleem Tahir and Superintendents Younus Atta and Saleem Agha.

The anti-smuggling squad with the coordination of Frontier Crops (FC) and local CTD team intercepted 4 vehicles and one truck and recovered huge quantity of smuggled cloth and other foreign origin goods including tyres, cigarettes, wielding rod, zinc rod, cooking oil, soap and blankets.

Sources told that market value of seized goods is Rs80 million. Chief Collector Dr. Zulfiqar Ali Chaudhary and Collector Preventive Dr. Iftikhar Ahmad lauded the performance of the Collectorate.
