Quetta Customs foils bid to smuggle hashish during checking

KARACHI: Directorate of Customs Intelligence and Investigation Quetta has foiled an attempt to smuggle a huge quantity of hashish outside the city.

Sources told Customs Today that Director Customs Intelligence Irfanur Rehman received information that an attempt will be made to smuggle a huge quantity of hashish through a Suzuki van. He constituted a team to foil the attempt. The customs team established various check posts at main entry and exit points of the city and started checking of vehicles.

During checking, the team intercepted a Suzuki van and recovered 8 kilogram of hashish which was tactfully hidden in the secret parts of the vehicle. The customs team arrested two persons and registered a case of narcotics smuggling against them.

It is necessary to mention here that Customs Intelligence authorities foiled 13 attempts of smuggling during the month of October. The customs team recovered 42,000 liters of Iranian diesel, two luxury vehicles, electronics goods and narcotics. The customs authorities are using all available resources to curb smuggling attempts in the region. Customs authorities after seizing the goods forwarded the cases to Customs Adjudication department for further proceedings.
