QUETTA: The Directorate of Customs Intelligence and Investigation has foiled a bid to smuggle Iranian diesel worth Rs 7.23 million during special checking.
Sources told Customs Today on Friday afternoon, that Director Customs Intelligence and Investigation Quetta Muhammad Akram Chaudhary received a tip-off that some smugglers are trying to smuggle Irani Diesel from Quetta.
He constituted a raiding team under the supervision of Preventive department Inspector Kazim Rizvi and others. The team enhanced the surveillance in Quetta Highway Road and started searching of vehicles. During the search operation, the team intercepted an oil tanker bearing registration no: TNJ-0932 which was going out of Quetta.
During the checking, the customs team recovered 28,000 liters Iranian diesel worth Rs 7.23 million including oil tanker. The customs team seized Iranian diesel and truck being used in smuggling and arrested two smugglers. Source told that Customs Intelligence and Investigation after completion of initial investigations will lodge FIR against the smugglers.
