QUETTA: Regional Directorate of Customs Intelligence & Investigation (I&I) Quetta has impounded 33 Japanese origin vehicles of various makes and models worth Rs84.6 million.
Sources told Customs Today that the operation was carried out on the basis of credible information received from Mr Faiz Ahmad Chadhar, Director General, Customs Intelligence and Investigation (I&I), who directed the Regional Directorate of Customs I&I to take action against the smugglers.
Customs I&I, Quetta, the vehicles were intercepted by a joint team of Customs I&I and FC North at Nokundi, a border town in Balochistan province, near the border with Iran.
The vehicles were being smuggled into Pakistan from Iran through the unfrequented routes.
The seized vehicles include Toyota Land Cruisers, Toyota Hilux Surf, Toyota Corolla, Toyota Vitz, Toyota Premio, Toyota Passo, Honda Civic, Honda Fit, Honda Vezel, Suzuki Alto, Suzuki Wagon R, and Daihatsu Mira.
Customs Intelligence and Investigations (I&I) registered a case of smuggling and started investigations.
