Quetta Customs impounds 36 non-duty paid vehicles in two months

KARACHI: The Quetta Customs Collectorate claims to have impounded 36 non-duty paid vehicles during  the anti-smuggling campaign, which was started two months ago.

Sources told Customs Today that Deputy Collector Amanullah Tareen received information that some non-duty paid vehicles were being used by different people. He constituted different raiding teams which established checking points on the main entry and exit points of the city. The teams also raided various showrooms located in Jinnah Town, Shahbaz Town, areas around the airport and other localities of the city.

Sources said that other Law Enforcement Agencies (LEAs) which includes Frontier Constabulary (FC) and police extended their full support to Customs Intelligence and Investigation department in anti smuggling campaign. Sources said that customs authorities impounded 25 non duty paid vehicles during the month of October while rest of vehicles were seized during current month of November. Sources said that all owners of these vehicles were failed to provide any legal documents regarding possession and transportation of these vehicles.

Sources said that customs authorities enhanced their campaign against non duty paid vehicles because these vehicles are being used for smuggling.
