KARACHI: Directorate of Customs Intelligence and Investigation Quetta has impounded four non-duty paid luxury vehicles and during another crackdown recovered a huge quantity of narcotics which were being smuggled outside Quetta.
Sources told Customs Today that Director General Customs Intelligence and Investigation Imtiaz Ahmad Khan conveyed information to Collector Customs Quetta about some smuggling attempts. After receiving the information, the Collector Customs formed a team comprising Inspectors Inam Khan, Rahim Ali and others. The customs team established many check points on main exit and entry points of the city. During the checking of vehicles, the customs team intercepted a container and recovered four luxury vehicles which were loaded on the container and were being transported to other cities. Customs team arrested the driver and his companion and registered a case of smuggling against them.
It is necessary to mention here that both persons were failed to provide any relevant documents regarding possession and transportation of above said luxury vehicles.
During another operation Customs team during checking of vehicles intercepted a vehicle and recovered 50 kilograms of hashish which were hidden in the secret parts of the vehicle. During initial interrogations it was revealed that the car which were being used for transportation of narcotics were hired through a rent a car company. Customs team arrested the accused and registered a case of smuggling against them.
