QUETTA: Under the leadership of Director-General Customs Intelligence & Investigations (I&I) Shaukat Ali, a grand operation against smuggling has been launched in Balochistan.
According to the details Director Customs Intelligence and Investigations Irfanur Rehman has shown outstanding performance and made record seizures of Rs. 250.773 million in the month of February 2017.
Customs Intellligene Quetta seized 3,86 000 liters of HSD smuggled diesel, 27 NDP luxury vehicles, 70,000 packs of smuggled cigarettes, 696 kg charas, 14150 yards smuggles cloth, 588 tyres, 290 blankets, 15000 kg auto-parts, 237500 pouches of Gutka ( Pan Prag), LED TVs and other miscellaneous goods.
The goods will auctioned and customs duties and taxes will be deposited in the government exchequer. Recently, Customs Intelligence raided the Quetta Chaman Railway train and foiled attempt to smuggle goods on train from Chaman to Quetta.
The train was intercepted at main Railway station Quetta and goods worth more than Rs10 million including tyres, cosmetics, toiletries, cigarettes, Pan Prag and auto parts were seized with the assistance of senior railway officers. Junior railways staff was also suspended on the suspicion of their involvement by the DTO Railways Quetta and inquiry has been also ordered. As a result of the raid smuggling on train has stopped now
