Quetta Customs recovers 435kgs hashish from Yaroo check post

QUETTA: Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) Member Customs Operations Syed Mohammad Tariq Huda appreciated anti-smuggling strategy adopted by Collectorate of Customs Enforcement and Compliance under the leadership of Collector Irfan Javed. Due to effective strategy there is decrease is being witnessed in smuggling attempts in the region.

On 27.6.2020, the anti-smuggling squad of the Collectorate during checking of vehicles at Customs Check Post, Yaroo, a passenger bus bearing registration no: LZJ-5844 was intercepted at around 9.30 pm. On checking 435 kilograms hashish of high quality, packed in 1 kilogram plastic bags was recovered from concealed cavitites specially made in the bus.

The market value of the seized hashish excluding the truck is Rs87 million. The FIR is accordingly being registered. The drugs were destined for smuggling to other parts of the country. The enhanced level of vigilance and anti smuggling drive being  exercised by the Collectorate has helped to check smuggling the jurisdiction of this Collectorate.

It is pertinent to mention here that the intensified anti-smuggling drive has resulted in the seizure of Rs608 million June, 2020 as compared to the cases of Rs179 million the corresponding period of last year.
