KARACHI: Directorate of Customs Intelligence and Investigations has recovered a huge quantity of non-duty paid cigarettes, batteries of heavy duty vehicles and other items.
Sources told Customs Today that Collector Saeed Jadoon received information that a huge quantity of non-duty paid cigarettes and other goods will be smuggled. He formed a customs team to enhance surveillance in the area.
The customs team intercepted a truck. During the checking process of the vehicle, the team recovered 120 cartons of non-duty paid cigarettes and 80 batteries of heavy duty vehicles. The customs team seized the goods and registered a case of smuggling against the accused person. The market value of the seized goods is Rs 2.2 million.
