QUETTA: Collectorate of Customs has foiled a bid to smuggle large quantity of foreign origin goods, and seized smuggled items worth Rs200 million.
Sources said that information was passed through Collector Dr. Fareed Salarzai to Additional Collector Moin Afzal regarding movement of smuggled goods through Ziarat Cross. Deputy Collector Dr. Zohaib Sandela constituted a team to foil the attempt.
The Customs team intercepted one Hino truck. Thorough checking led to the recovery of large quantity of betel nut, milk powder, tyres, cosmetics and cigarettes. Value of the seized goods are worth Rs120 million. Investigations are underway.
It is necessary to mention here that Prime Minister Imran Khan directed Pakistan Customs to adopt zero tolerance policy against smuggling. He directed that anyone who found involved in smuggling should be dealt as per law.
