KARACHI: Quetta Directorate of Customs Intelligence and Investigation has foiled the smuggling of 18,000 liters Iranian diesel, more than 200 cartons of imported cigarettes and Indian gutka during two successful raids.
As per the details, Customs Intelligence authorities received Information that a huge quantity of Iranian fuels are smuggled. Consequently, Director of Customs Intelligence formed a team under the supervision of Deputy Director. The teams set up check-post at the exit point of the city and started the checking of vehicles. During the checking of vehicles the officials intercepted a suspected Oil tanker filled with 18,000 liters Iranian diesel.
The team asked the driver about customs clearance documents but he remained failed to produce related documents. Therefore the officials seized the fuels and tanker which was use in this guilty smuggling. They said the estimated value of seized fuel is more than 7 million.
In another operation, the Customs Intelligence recovered a huge quantity of imported cigarettes and Indian gutka. Deputy Director Customs raided in the area of Meer Ali and during the search of a house recovered 500 cartons of imported cigarettes 12 packets of cigarettes were available in every carton. On the further searching the official’s recovered 12 cartons of Indian gutka. The team seized the items and arrested two persons during investigation of accused it revealed the seized items were brought here before two days. The accused have a plane to supply these items to the other cities. Customs seized the items and filed a case against smugglers.
