Quetta Customs seizes perfumes, LED lights worth of Rs 19m

KARACHI: The Quetta Customs Collectorate has seized a huge consignment of perfumes and LED lights during two successful raids while four persons were arrested.

Deputy Collector Jhanzaib Abbasi received information that a consignment of non duty-paid perfumes was being smuggled out of the Quetta city. Consequently, he informed the anti-smuggling squad and directed them to curb the smuggling. The anti- smuggling squad included Raheel Ali Khan, Inspector Murtaz, Yousf Khan and others. The team established check points at main entry and exit point of the city and started the checking of vehicles. During the checking of the vehicles the team halted passenger bus. During the searching of the bus the team recovered 500 bottles of different imported brands. The customs officials seized the perfumes and bus while two persons were arrested during action. Customs officials said that the value of seized items is more than Rs9 million.

In another action, the anti-smuggling squad has impounded a truck filled with LED lights. On the specials instructions of deputy collector the team established check-post at Pasheen Road and intercepted a suspicious truck. During the searching of the truck the team recovered a huge quantity of LED lights. The customs officials seized the lights while two persons were arrested during actions. The anti-smuggling staff said that the value of seized items is more than Rs10 million.
