Quetta Customs showing excellent performance despite shortage of staff: Chief Collector Zulfiqar Ch

QUETTA: Chief Collector Customs OPS Enforcement Dr Zulfiqar Ali Chaudhary said that Quetta Collectorate always showed outstanding performance while it is facing problems like understaffing and insufficient infrastructure.

According to details talking on the occasion of International Customs day here at premises of Collectorate Quetta the Chief Collector said that during initial 6 months (July to December FY18-19) the Collectorate surpassed its assigned revenue collection target of Rs13 million with extra collection of 26% while seized huge quantity of smuggled and contra banned goods and narcotic, he added that Anti=Smuggling Organization of Quetta also made huge crackdown against the mini patrol pumps as well as intercepted countable quantity of Non Duty Paid vehicles.

Talking on the occasion of “Customs International Day 2019” the Chief Collector said that Quetta Collectorate have a long international border, he added that due to further enhancement of relationship with the joint border countries the Collectorate was arranged its ‘6th Session of Joint Border Trade Committee’ (JBTC) at Quetta where discussed hassle free trade with Iran by simplification of customs procedures and establishment of Electronic Data Interchange.

Zulifaqar said that Pakistan Customs is considered as back bone in to the economy and prosperity of the country, he added that MCC Quetta is also planned to connect all the check-posts through optic fiber with WeBOC to ensure that all the relevant customs operation are performed in a technology   driven   automated environment.

Talking on the occasion the Collector MCC Quetta said that the Collectorate have installed currency declaration system at Quetta airport while crackdown against smuggling had continued throughout the providence, he added that during last six months the MCC Quetta have seized smuggled goods in worth of Rs.13286 million while seized NDP vehicles in worth of Rs.1360 million as well as during correspondence FY17-18 the Quetta Customs was assigned Rs.18000 million of revenue target while it fetched extra revenue with collection of Rs.22000 million.

Collector told that it is our desire to provide more facilities to business community and to promote the legal business for the sack of collection of more revenue as well as to discourage the unlawful activities, he added that Quetta Customs has taken many steps for promotion of legal business at Baluchistan providence.
