Quetta Customs thwarts attempt to smuggle Indian origin goods

QUETTA: Collectorate of Customs team deputed at at Taftan has detected where the importer through mis-declaration tried to clear Indian origin goods.

According to sources, Collector Rashid Habib received credible information that an attempt would be made to clear Indian origin goods in the garb of Iran origin goods.

The importer tried to conceal the actual origin of goods (Indian origin) by declaring them as Iranian origin. The importer also mis-declared the description of goods to evade duties & taxes.

Importer declared the goods as Kamarkas seeking classification in PCT 1301.9090 while the goods are actually Lakh Dana (Seed Lac) i.e herbal products of Indian origin rightly classifiable under PCT 1301.9020.

For the above offences, the goods along with vehicle have been seized under the relevant provisions of law and FIR is being lodged. Market calue of the seized goods is Rs73.55 million.

It is the biggest case in the history of Appraisement Quetta and even any customs station. Deputy Collector Mustafa Zamir, Superintendents Arshad Zubair and Faisal Siddiq, Inspectors Miqdad Raza, Muhammad Zakarya and Nadir ali took part in the operation
