Quetta I&I confiscates non-customs paid goods, vehicle worth Rs9.23m

QUETTA: The Directorate of Customs Intelligence and Investigation has confiscated non-customs paid international wall paints worth Rs 9.23 million including truck used in smuggling.

Sources told Customs Today on Tuesday morning that Director Customs Intelligence and Investigation Muhammad Akram Ch received a tip-off that some smugglers are trying to smuggle some non-duty paid items from Quetta.

He immediately constituted a raiding team under the supervision of Preventive Inspector Niaz Ahmed and others. The team enhanced the surveillance on the Quetta Doki Road and started searching vehicles. During the search operation, the team intercepted a truck bearing registration No: GJZ-0923 which was going out of Quetta.

During the checking, the customs team recovered more than 2000 boxes of Italian wall paints, 500 packets of warmish (chemicals) and 5000 worth Rs 9.23 million including  truck. The customs team seized all items and arrested 3 smugglers including truck driver, who were later identified Nasir Suhail Khan, Zihaib Ali and Zafar Khan.

Source said that the Directorate of Customs Intelligence and Investigation Quetta are going to register an FIR against the smugglers after careful investigations. The team also seized the truck being used in smuggling.
