Quetta I&I foils bid to smuggle non-duty paid LED TVs & drugs worth Rs6.50m

QUETTA: Directorate of Customs Intelligence and Investigation foiled a bid to smuggle imported non duty paid LED TV and drugs worth Rs 6.50 million during special checking on Monday.

Sources told Customs Today that Director I&I Muhammad Akram Chaudhary received a tip-off that some smugglers are trying to smuggle non duty paid LED TV and drugs out of Quetta.

He constituted a raiding team under the supervision of Inspector Wahid Elahi ,Shakeel Aiwan  and others. The team enhanced the surveillance on Quetta near Bara Market and started searching of vehicles.

During the search operation, the team intercepted a small truck bearing registration no: QRG-9361 which was going outside of Quetta. During the checking, the customs team recovered 200 non duty paid LED TV 20 kilograms drugs (charas) packed in different packing worth Rs 6.50 million including truck being used in smuggling. The customs team seized all TV and drugs, arrested two persons.
