Quetta I&I impounds smuggled diesel engines, auto parts worth Rs30m

QUETTA: Directorate of Customs Intelligence and Investigation (I&I) team has seized smuggled diesel engines, chassis and other automobile parts worth Rs30 million.

Sources told that information was passed through Director Muhammad Ismail to Additional Director Abdul Hayee Shaikh regarding smuggling of goods.

Deputy Director Chaudhary Fahad Bashir constituted a team comprising IOs Hamid Habib, Shafat Ali and others, which intercepted a truck alongwith container apparently loaded with foreign origin goods.

The truck and goods were detained and brought to the Aryana Warehouse, Quetta for further probe. At State warehouse, a thorough examination led to recovery of smuggled old/used diesel engines with gears, old & used HTV/LTV chassis frames, crane machinery parts, and large quantity of other auto parts and accessories worth Rs30 million.

It is pertinent to mention here that Quetta Intelligence and Investigation team also seized goods worth Rs72 million during various intelligence based operations in the last week of July 2022. On the instructions of Director Muhammad Ismail, Additional Director Abdul Hayee Shaikh and Deputy Director have tightened the monitoring and further strengthened the intelligence network. The team comprising IOs Hamid Habib, Shafat Ali and others have displayed exemplary performance, which led to significant increase the in seizure cases of smuggled goods.
