Quetta I&I impounds smuggled goods worth Rs170m during different IBOs

QUETTA: Directorate of Customs Intelligence & Investigation (I&I) has seized huge quantity of Indian origin Gutkha, skimmed milk, motor oil, tyres etc worth Rs170 million during different Intelligence Based Operations (IBOs).

Sources said that Director Customs received credible information that huge quantity of smuggled Indian origin Guthka would be transported from Border area to Quetta by a recognized gang.

Accordingly, a special team was formed f officials of Directorate of Intelligence & Investigation, Quetta.

Subsequently, the Staff of Directorate Intelligence & Investigation Quetta, signaled a Hino Truck to stop at Airport Road, Quetta but the driver accelerated.

Customs staff chased the truck, but three vehicles i.e. Toyota Cygnus black in color, Toyota Rivo white in color and a Toyota Premio white in color, all three vehicles are non-registered and the plate affixed on these vehicle as AFR-2022, tried to stop chasing the Truck and made hurdles for the staff of Directorate.

However, after hectic efforts, the staff of this Directorate intercepted the said Hino Truck. The man on steering seat introduced himself as Abdul Wasay son of Palawan Khan and Ajab Khan son of Muhammad Koh.

During initial investigation, the driver and cleaner stated that the said truck was loaded from Killa Abdullah destined for Quetta, they further stated that the actual owner of the goods are Haji Hameed Kokzai, Ali Khan, Zia UI Haq.

The truck was apparently loaded with Indian origin Panparag. The intercepted truck loaded with Indian-origin Panparag was detained and brought to the state Warehouse, Killi Gul Muhammad, Quetta. The market value of the seized goods is Rs121 million.

A case is lodged and investigations are underway.

In another case, I&I Quetta seized smuggled cloth and American Almond. The value of the seized goods along with transporting vehicle comes to Rs39.4 million.

Moreover, a large quantity of smuggled tyres, motor oil and skimmed milk was also seized. Value of the seized goods is Rs10 million.
