Quetta I&I seizes smuggled goods worth Rs166.5m during first ten days of Jan 2023

QUETTA: After the directions of Director-General Customs Intelligence and Investigation (I&I) Faiz Ahmed and under the supervision of Director I&I Quetta Ch. Muhammad Javaid, Directorate has made seizures worth Rs166.5 million and contravention cases worth Rs229.5 million during the first 10 days of January 2023.

On the directives of Director General Faiz Ahmed, all I&I formations are pursuing a rigorous anti-smuggling campaign, and seizures are made on daily basis.

The ASO team of I&I Quetta led by Superintendent Hamid Habib seized 100,000 liters of diesel along with 3 offending conveyances valuing Rs. 50 million; seized 45,000 kgs of cumin seeds (zeera) along with offending conveyance valuing Rs. 41.5 million; seized 90,140 kgs of bitumen along with offending conveyance valuing Rs. 16 million; and seized six non-duty paid vehicles amounting to Rs. 59 million. Total value of seizures Rs. 166.5 million.

Moreover, contravention case regarding illegal clearance of cumin seeds (zeera) valuing Rs. 63 million has also been framed. Total value of the cases. Rs229.5 million.
