Quetta I&I seizes smuggled goods worth Rs23m near Darakhshan check post

QUETTA: Customs Intelligence and Investigation (I&I) has seized huge quantity of smuggled nylon rope along with the container trailer used in transporting of the smuggled goods.

According to sources, information was received that a huge quantity of foreign origin / smuggled Nylon Rope would be transported from Quetta to down country. During the course of surveillance the Staff of Directorate Intelligence & Investigation Quetta stopped the suspected vehicle near Darakhshan Custom Check Post, on Quetta – Sibi Road.

The driver of the vehicle failed to produce any legal documents at the spot. The claimant / owner of the goods Muhammad Qasim further stated in writing that he has no legal documents of the seized goods and he also stated that he is ready to pay leviable duty and taxes on the said goods.

However, the detailed examination of Container Trailer along with goods were impossible at the spot therefore the same were brought to state warehouse for further Probe.

After the detail examination a huge quantity of foreign origin Nylon Rope were recovered from Container Trailer.

In view of above, it is crystal clear that the recovered foreign origin Nylon Rope, is smuggled one and have been brought into the country through illegal and un-authorized routes Accordingly, the recovered foreign origin smuggled Nylon Rope along with Container Trailer were seized having being used for transportation of smuggled goods. The value of the seized goods is Rs13 million and value of the vehicle is Rs10 million.
