Quetta Preventive foils bid to smuggle cigarettes to India from Afghanistan

QUETTA: Collectorate of Customs Preventive has foiled a bid to smuggle cigarettes under the grab of onions from Afghanistan to India through transit trade.
According to sources, information was received through Additional Collector Yasir Wahab Kulwar to Deputy Collector Chudhry Imran Afzal Lila regarding smuggling of cigarettes under the grab of onions through transit trade.
Additional Collector immediately constituted a team comprising Superintendent Saleem Agha and Inspectors Essa Khan, Aslam Khan and Ansr Gujar.
A 10-wheeler truck declared to contain fresh, onions in transit to Delhi, India originating from Kandahar, Afghanistan, was intercepted at Yaro Check Post.
During detailed examination of the vehicle, huge quantity of foreign origin cigarettes were found in the garb of onions. The value of the seized goods is estimated to be Rs40 million.

The goods have been seized and further proceedings including lodging of FIR are underway.
