Qurban visits Peshawar Dry Port; gives hearing to clearing agents & businessmen

PESHAWAR: Collector Modal Custom Collectorate Peshawar Qurban Ali Khan and Additional Collector Custom Rashid Habib visited the Peshawar Dry Port and addressed the clearing agents and business community. The collector visited different sections of the dry port. He was accompanied by Additional Collector Rashid Habib who also took keen interest in hearing the problems of clearing agents and importers.

Talking to the delegation, Collector Custom said that all facilities would be provided to the Peshawar Dry Port and problems related to importers would be resolved as soon as possible.

He said it would be the foremost priority of the government to make available all facilities for the business community as dry ports lack basic facilities for the importers who have to wait for long due to a limited space.

It is to mention here that due to shortage of facilities the importers had asked Qurban Ali for visiting the Peshawar Dry Port to resolve their problems. Collector Qurban Ali Khan did fulfil their demand by visiting the Peshawar Dry Port for which they are thankful to him.

Meanwhile, to improve the export of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa products, four national and international exhibitions would be held to introduce the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa-made products in the international market.

Addressing a meeting of the Executive Committee of President Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Muhammad Afzal Khan said the exhibitions will bring economic prosperity for the people of this poverty-hit province. He said the products of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa will also help portray a soft image of the peace-loving people of this militancy-hit province.

Regarding China Pakistan Economic Corridor, Muhammad Afzal Khan said this project is the lifeline of Pakistan and a game-changer for the region. He added that recommendations have been forwarded to the provincial government for its due share in this project of vital importance.

He said Chinese language learning courses would be launched soon at the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chamber of Commerce and Industry with the support of the TEVTA. He also expressed deep concern over the loss of precious lives due to recent rain and asked the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government for compensating the affected families.

He said that under the ERKP project the terrorism and militancy affected business community would compensate them and raise their problems on various national and international forums.

The Executive Committee of the Chamber also gives an approval to form the Election Commission comprising of Sofi Bashir Ahmad, Zia-ul-Haq Sarhadi and Muhammad Ishaq. The meeting also approved the schedule for the election of 2017-2018.

The meeting was also attended by former President Zulfiqar Ali Khan, Sharafat Ali Mubarik, Khan Gul Awan, Kamran Ishaq, Imran Sawal, Muhammad Naeem Butt, Sohail Raof, Abdul Jalil Jan, Mohammad Sajjad and Noman-ul-Haq.
