R100m embezzlement: NAB apprehends PDA official, releases Director after Rs8.1m plea bargain

PESHAWAR: The National Accountability Bureau (NAB) of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, after completing investigation in a Rs100 million embezzlement case, has arrested Peshawar Development Authority (PDA) Divisional Account Officer Nadeem Shad and ordered freezing of properties owned by him and Samba Bank Peshawar Regional Manager Sheraz Khan.

According to NAB, Nadeem Shad had opened a fake bank account in connivance with Sheraz Khan and got transferred over Rs100 million to their own account from the PDA official account maintained with Samba Bank Ltd, Peshawar.

Meanwhile, the accountability court ordered release of director Peshawar Development Authority (PDA) Mehmood Tariq after he reached a Rs81,63,000 plea bargain with the NAB in a plot scam.

The accountability court judge, Tariq Yousafzai, issued the release order of the PDA director after the NAB chief approved his application for plea bargain in the case. The NAB had arrested the official for allotment of five kanal plot to a private person, Raz Muhammad Durrani, in violation of the rules and formalities on a nominal price for 33 years with the provision of extension.
