After approval from FBR, the directorate has started working on to make the clearance system more advance by including EDI into the system.

The sources informed this scribe that Appraisement-West Collector Dr Farid Iqbal Qureshi, who is also looking after the charge of director of Reforms and Automation has already directed the authorities concerned to ensure early completion of the process.

They further informed that the EDI is already existed in the WeBOC, but the upgradation of the EDI would help Pakistan Customs in finding the tax evasion easily through mis-declaration and under-invoicing.

Highlighting the advantages of the contemporary EDI system, the sources said that it would work properly in case of any importer or clearing agent is placed the wrong information into the system. In such case, the system immediately would generate alert and that alert would immediately pass on to the field formation concerned for further action.

Responding to a query, the sources disclosed that the said contemporary and latest EDI system would take at least a month more for implementation.
