Railways to import modern technology for the safety of train operation

LAHORE: Pakistan Railways management has decided to import modern technology being used in the developed countries for the safety of train operation.

The decision was taken in a meeting held at Railways headquarters yesterday. Railways minister Khawaja Saad Rafique presided over the meeting held in wake of recent train accident at Karachi in which around two dozen people lost their lives.

According to reports, more than a hundred people died in around 30 accidents since Khawaja Saad has taken over the charge of Railways ministry.

The meeting on safe rail journey was attended by all senior staff in which different proposals were forwarded to ensure a secure train journey.

In the statement, the minister was quoted as addressing the meeting: “No comprise will be made to ensure safe train operation in future.” He directed officials to utilise all available resources and forward proposals to protect human lives and avoid train accidents in future.
