Raising GST to 22pc from 5pc on POL rates: LHC moved against tax hike

LAHORE: A petition has been filed in Lahore High Court (LHC) against 5 percent hike in the general sales tax (GST) in prices of petroleum products (POL), requesting the apex court to annul additional by declaring illegal.

The petitioner submitted that increasing the GST on POL products from 17 percent to 5 percent after reduction in POL prices was tantamount to depriving the public of benefits. He said that it injustice with the poor masses.
