Rashid Mahmood Langrial appointed new FBR chairman

ISLAMABAD: The federal government announced Wednesday the appointment of Rashid Mahmood Langrial as the new Chairman of the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR).

The notification confirming his appointment has been officially issued.

Langrial, a Grade 21 officer, was previously serving as Secretary of the Power Division. His appointment comes following the decision of the current FBR Chairman Amjad Zubair Tiwana to seek early retirement.

Sources close to the development revealed that the summary for Langrial’s appointment had been forwarded to the federal cabinet for approval before the official announcement.

Rashid Mahmood Langrial is a Harvard University qualified person, having extensive experience in public administration, international development, mobilizing group resources, and development policies and strategies.

He has also served as the chief secretary of Gilgit-Baltistan.
