ISLAMABAD: Raw cotton export from the country during the first month of current financial year 2015-16 has marked an increase of 67.73 percent as compared to the exports in the same period of last year.
During the month of July, 2015 about 4,003 metric tons of raw cotton worth $5.604 million exported as compared to 658 metric tons valuing $0.330 million exported during the corresponding period of last year.
Textile group exports during the period under review plunged by 11.72 percent as it came down from $1.162 billion in July 2014 to $1.025 billion during July 2015, said the data of Pakistan Bureau of Statistics (PBS).
However, the data revealed that exports of cotton carded or combed witnessed tremendous increase of 100 percent as compared to same period of last year and about24 metric tons of the commodity worth $0.092 million exported.
During the first month of current financial year, exports of other textile materials grew by 10.93 percent and country earned US$37.78 billion by exporting the textile material.
The export of textile material during the corresponding period of last year was recorded at $34.056 million, the data revealed.
However, exports of raw cotton on month on month basis was increased during the month of July and it reached to 4,003 metric tons worth of $ 5.604 million as compared to the exports of 558 metric tons valuing $0.845 million in June 2015, it added.
Meantime, about 50,337 metric tons of cotton yarn was exported during the month of July as compared to about 50,329 metric tons of cotton yarn exported during month of June, the data revealed.
During the first month of current financial year exports of other textile items including readymade garments, cotton cloth, bed wear and towels witnessed negative growth in their exports.
