Rawalpindi Anti-Smuggling staff seizes Rs9 m foreign origin BOP Film

ISLAMABAD: Anti-Smuggling Staff of Directorate of I&I-FBR Regional Office Rawalpindi has recovered the 229-Rolls (3520) kg foreign origin BOP Film.

According to details in pursuance of information the Anti-Smuggling Staff of Directorate of I&I intercepted a Mazda mini truck bearing Registration No E-1263, coming from Peshawar side near Koh-e-Noor mill Rawalpindi. Thorough search of the bus was conducted in the presence of witnesses and owner of the goods which led to the recovery of 229-Rolls (3520) kg foreign origin BOP Film.

At the time of occurrence driver of mini truck claimed the ownership of the above mentioned recovered foreign origin goods but on demand he failed to produce any evidence regarding legal import or lawful possession of recovered foreign origin goods, therefore, the said recovered Foreign Origin smuggled goods along with Mini truck No.E-1263 was seized under Section 168 and 157 of the Customs Act, 1969 after serving notice u/s. 171 ibid. An FIR No. 41/2014 dated 19.12.2014 has been lodged against the accused person namely Muhammad Anber Ali Shah, who was arrested and presented before the trial court.  The approximate CIF value of above said F/O smuggled non-duty paid goods comes to Rs 900,000 excluding value of seized vehicle which is estimated as Rs 800, 000. Further proceedings are in progress.
