Rawalpindi Chamber organises cycle race as part of Rawal Shopping Festival

RAWALPINDI: A cycle race has been organised in connection with the continuing Rawal shopping Festival, which was started from Rawalpindi Chamber via Mall Road/Peshawar Road reached Golra Mor and returned on the same way.

Rawalpindi Chamber of Commerce and Industry (RCCI) was laudef for organising the race, in which more than 40 cyclists participated. Owais Khan from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa won the race by completing 23km distance in just 34 minutes and 8 seconds with the average speed of 40.4km/h while Ghulam Hussain & Farman Ali secured 2nd and 3rd position respectively..

RCCI President Syed Asad Mashadi, former Presidents Sohail Altaf, Abdul Rauf Ch., Kashif Shabbir, Manzar Khurshid Sheikh, SVP Mian Humayun, VP Saboor Malik, Asad Malik, Ch. Iqbal, Executive Members and other members were also there.

Speaking on the occasion Asad Mashadi said that Cycle Race was the important event of Rawal Shopping festival and beside positive public response it will help in promotion of sport activities in the region as well. He thanked Pakistan Cycle Federation for their cooperation in the event and hoped that both organisations will jointly hold such events to promote cycling in future.

He presented an amount of Rs50,000 and a trophy to the winner of the RSF Cycle Race Owais Khan and Rs30,000 and Rs20,000 to runner-up and third respectively. Earlier, Mashadi in his speech said that Rawal Shopping Festival getting momentum with day by day and that’s why RCCI already announced the extension in the date of the festival on public demand.
