Rawalpindi Customs I&I seizes NDP goods & vehicles worth Rs60.32m

ISLAMABAD: Directorate of Customs Intelligence and Investigation Rawalpindi seized Rs 60.32 million smuggled goods and vehicles, and registered 7 cases against smugglers during the month of April 2018.

Deputy Director Customs Intelligence and Investigation Rawalpindi Shahid Jan told Customs Today that under the supervision of Director Customs I&I Rawalpindi Abdul Waheed Marwat, during the course of anti-smuggling activities in April 2018 Customs I&I Rawalpindi seized and recovered Rs 60.32 million smuggled goods/vehicles in different parts of the region involving Rs 39.80 million of duty and taxes.

Shahid Jan further told that the regional directorate recovered non-duty paid vehicles from the offender who was later identified as Khurram having worth of Rs12.8 million and involving Rs9.3 million of duty and taxes and registered a case no. 24/2018 against the offender.

During the course of anti-smuggling crackdown, the Customs I&I also recovered a non-duty paid vehicle worth Rs1 million involving duty and taxes of Rs1.1 million from offender who was later identified as Younis and registered a 05/2018 against him.

He also added that the regional directorate also recovered 3 other no-duty paid vehicles worth Rs 18.8 million and registered case against the offenders.

Deputy Director Customs I&I Rawalpindi told that during April 2018, the regional directorate also seized smuggled peanuts from offender Naseer Khan having worth of Rs1.3 million and involving duty and taxes of Rs1.1 million.

Meanwhile the team also seized smuggled Injet Inks having quantity of 5,000 kilograms under the name of M/s Capital CIF worth Rs26.1 million and registered case no. 27/2018. He added that during this month, seven cases were registered against the smugglers while further investigations are still underway.
