RAWALPINDI: The Rawalpindi Chamber of Commerce and Industry (RCCI) has organized an anti-Polio walk to mark World Polio Day. The major aim of the walk was to raise awareness among masses for the prevention from Polio and Dengue.
Commissioner Rawalpindi Saqib Zafar, RCCI president Saboor Malik, former presidents, representatives from the health department, Academia, School Colleges and traders, youth, volunteers of welfare organizations, teachers and civil society members participated in the walk that started from Government Woman College Satellite Town RWP and ended at Jinnah Informatic College at 6th road.
Commissioner Saqib Zafar, reiterated government resolve to eradicate polio and dengue and appreciated RCCI for supporting national cause and arranging the awareness walk.
RCCI President Saboor Malik said that under the slogan “One Day. One Focus: Ending Polio” the walk aim was to ensure that no child will ever again know the crippling effects of polio. The awareness walk also aimed to educate the public about the precautionary steps to protect themselves from mosquito-borne diseases. Chairman Glorious Rawalpindi Project Asad Mashadi said that the Chamber took a lead here and as a part of the project collective efforts are being carried out to beautify the city and make it clean and green so that our future generations be given a Polio and Dengue free environment.
