RAWALPINDI, November 04 (APP):The Rawalpindi Chamber of Commerce and Industry (RCCI) on Tuesday lauded the government’s Roshan Maishiat package and its decision to allocate additional power supply to the industrial and agricultural sectors, terming it a landmark initiative toward revitalizing Pakistan’s productive economy.

In a statement, RCCI President Usman Shaukat commended the government’s move to reduce electricity tariffs for the agricultural and industrial sectors. He said the decision demonstrates a strong commitment to supporting key pillars of the national economy.

Under the new package, the electricity tariff for agricultural consumers has been reduced from Rs38 to Rs22.98 per unit, while the industrial tariff for additional units has been brought down from Rs34 to Rs22.98 per unit.

Shaukat noted that high electricity costs have long been a major burden on businesses, directly affecting production, employment, and overall economic activity. “This substantial reduction will significantly lower the average cost of doing business, enabling industries and farmers to boost their productivity and competitiveness,” he added.

He emphasized that agriculture and industry are the twin pillars of Pakistan’s economy—providing employment opportunities, ensuring food security, and contributing significantly to exports. The RCCI president expressed confidence that the Roshan Maishiat package will play a pivotal role in strengthening these sectors and driving sustainable economic growth.
