RCMP seize 30,000 illegal cigarettes in Shediac Cape

OTTAWA: A man and a woman from Nova Scotia are facing charges in connection with the seizure of 30,000 illegal cigarettes in Shediac Cape, N.B.

RCMP conducted a traffic stop Wednesday on Route 11 in Shediac Cape, N.B., which resulted in the seizure of about 30,000 contraband cigarettes.

The contraband cigarettes were seized during a traffic stop on Route 11 by members of the Southeast District RCMP on Wednesday, Cpl. Dave MacDonell said in a statement.

A 46-year old man from Aylesford is scheduled to appear in Moncton provincial court today, he said.

A 42-year-old woman from Kentville was released on a promise to appear in court on Aug. 18.

The investigation is ongoing.
