WASHINGTON: Realtek Semiconductor has reported consolidated revenues of NT$3.52 billion (US$113 million) for January 2017, up 17.5% sequentially and about 8% on year. Robust demand prior to the Lunar New Year holiday led to the revenue growth, according to the networking IC design company. Realtek saw its revenues fall to a 10-month low of NT$2.99 billion in December 2016, as a result of year-end inventory checks at clients. Realtek is scheduled to hold an investors conference later this month to discuss its profit results for 2016 and provide a business outlook.

Seasonal factors such as fewer working days will likely drag down Realtek’s revenues in the first quarter of 2017, according to market watchers. Nevertheless, revenues for all of the year are expected to set a new record high thanks to strong shipments of WLAN ICs as well as USB Type-C chip solutions. Realtek posted revenues of NT$38.91 billion for 2016, up 22.6% on year and hitting a record high.
