Reforms in tax collection system to increase revenue: Mujtaba

LAHORE: In 2013-14 budget, tax was only levied on affluent segments while agriculture tax will be implemented in phases and reforms in tax collection system will certainly increase the provincial revenue.

Provincial Minister for Finance Mian Mujtaba Shujja ur Rehman expressed these views while addressing different delegations of party workers and traders.

He said that property tax, motor vehicle tax and tax on services are the major sources of provincial income, adding that the development of education is the top priority of the provincial government and a sum of Rs.244 billion has been allocated in the budget for this sector.

The minister said that an amount of Rs.102 billion will be utilised on the provision of health facilities. He said that huge amount of Rs 7.5 billon is being spent on the provision of free treatment and medicines to the poor and the destitute in public sector hospitals of the province.
