LAHORE: No hearing of cases was held in Customs Court and other courts as lawyers observed a day of mourning on Monday following the demise of Abdul Sattar Edhi, a celebrated humanitarian worker.
According to the details, the Pakistan Bar Council announced the mourning day due to which lawyers did not attended the court proceedings in order to pay tribute to Edhi.
In the Customs Court, numbers of cases were also scheduled for hearing but all were rescheduled for new dates as lawyers not attended the hearings.
The Lahore High Court Bar Association and the Lahore Bar Association also offered funeral prayers in absentia for the deceased on Monday. Hundreds of lawyers offered funeral prayer.
Lawyers said that Edhi had set a precedent for others to follow. They said Edhi would be remembered for ever for his many works, and that the political leaders also needed to follow suit and pay more heed to social work.
