PARIS: Renault has taken the wraps off the Talisman Estate, which will stand alongside the saloon version unveiled back in July.

The French brand says the new estate car delivers the same technological features as the saloon, along with extra load-carrying ability.

The Renault Talisman Estate is scheduled to go on sale in parts of Europe during the first half of 2016. However, there are no plans for the car to be produced in right-hand-drive.

Interestingly, the Talisman Estate features exactly the same dimensions as the saloon, with a length of 4.86 metres, a width of1.87 metre, and a height of 1.46 metres (the wheelbase stands at 2.81 metres).

But the Talisman Estate offers 572 litres of load space up to the parcel shelf and a maximum load length of 1116mm. With the rear seats in the folded position, that figure increases to 2010mm, equating to a volume of almost 1700 litres.

The Estate version also benefits from 30mm extra headroom at the rear, extending it to 886mm.

The same range of engines used in the saloon version will be offered, including two petrol mills (the Energy TCe150 and the Energy TCe 200), both linked to seven-speed dual-clutch automatic transmissions.

There will also be three diesels (the Energy dCi 110, the Energy dCi 130, and the twin-turbo Energy dCi 160); with the first two available with either a six-speed manual gearbox or a six-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission, and the final one available exclusively with the self-shifting ‘box.
